Work in Progress: Kathleen Vaughan PHD RCA, Professor, Fiber Artist, St Lawrence River Advocate

This is a work in progress. Kathleen asked to have Arctic Terns as they are her chosen birds: symbolizing adaptability resilience and the spirit of adventure. They travel the longest distance of any migrating bird, from north to south poles. Kathleen asked to have her beloved poodle Baloo by her side as he walked many miles with her. She is pictured with a “suggestion” of the St Lawrence River and Bullrushes. The piece is made with embroidery, appliqué, crewel, scrap fabrics, hand dyed silk, wool and acrylic paint on raw canvas, approximate size is 78” high by 45” wide.  More about Kathleen Vaughan in this nice write up by EK Voland Gallery.
