This portrait of my daughter Zoë depicts her surrounded by Blue Morpho butterflies. These butterflies have particular meanings beyond the usual butterflies’ symbolism of metamorphosis and spiritual transformation. Some cultures believe that spotting a Blue Morpho means you’ll have a wish granted. Additionally, the color blue typically symbolizes a sense of calm and healing.
